Counseling - Primary School
Primary School
My name is Asmaa Emad, and I am the School Counselor at Primary in KBS2. I am both excited and honored to be joining this amazing KBS2 family. I am committed to encouraging, supporting, and empowering our students to become their best selves. My primary task is to help ALL students become more engaged and focused learners by providing a comprehensive, developmental counseling program that meets their academic, personal / social, and career development needs.
I will be meeting with students individually and in small groups, conducting classroom lessons, collaborating, and working as a team with parents and staff, along with organizing school wide events (such as Cooperation Week) to benefit and meet the needs of our KBS2 community. I speak a language of hope and blend respect, empathy, curiosity, humor, creativity, and patience when working with students.
Support provided can be therapeutic, but the role of a school counselor is not to diagnose or provide therapy. With this in mind I am able to provide temporary/short –term support to help students overcome issues that may be having an impact on their school performance. Think of me as a resource similar to the school primary wellbeing coach, who can provide help, and act as a reference to develop lasting and attainable solutions for day-to-day issues.
I am further able to act as a signpost to licensed mental health counselors who are the appropriate resource to provide ongoing therapy sometimes needed by families and children. I am happy to provide a list of outside agencies and licensed mental health counselors should anyone require this service.
As the counselor, I have the privilege of providing support to every student in my care at KBS2. Confidentiality is respected, unless a student is in immediate danger of hurting themselves, hurting someone else, or someone is hurting them. I do not require parental consent to action this. I am available if you would like to request that I meet with your child for a specific concern you may have. In this instance please do not hesitate to reach out.
I am thrilled to be here, and I thank you for entrusting me with caring for your child’s mental health. I look forward to a great school year and getting to know all our wonderful students at KBS2.
Sincerely,
