Hello and welcome to Kuwait Bilingual School.

I am proud to be entrusted with the leadership role as KBS’ Director, and am pleased to welcome all of our new and returning students, staff and families to the 2022-23 academic year. This year finds KBS as a PreK-12 International Baccalaureate World School accredited by the Middle States’ Association (USA) and the State of Kuwait to provide high-quality, holistic education to the children of Al Jahra and the surrounding community. Additionally, an important part of our mission is to continue positive collaboration with KBS parents in effecting a safe, supportive, and disciplined environment where all students can learn to their potential.

One of the most exciting aspects of KBS is our Technology Innovation Center, which consists of two Virtual Reality (VR) rooms, 24 reality devices, 3 classes sets of 24 Augmented Reality devices, robotics rooms with dozens of sets for robotics creation, as well as STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) education. For example MYP students build robots, work with 3D printing, and learn MIT’s Scratch (coding) in our Digital Design Classes. Scratch is a block-based visual computer programming Language in which users can create online projects, mixing together different media (including graphics, sound, and other programs) in creative ways. It also, enables users to learn how to control basic robotic functions.

We always place a strong focus on the language development aspects of being a Bilingual school at all levels PK-12, with a Literacy Intervention team in Primary and the full implementation of MYP Language Acquisition Phases in the MYP.

We put a strong emphasis on Mathematics and Science skills and fundamentals, as evidence our numeracy coach in Primary School, incorporating the innovation center into everyday lessons, and the secondary school's use of "Gizmo" an online program for Math and Science.

We have a fabulous leadership team led by our Principals in Early Years: Sinae VanHaastert, Primary School:Shaimaa Mohamed, MiddleSchool: Antoine Saadeh, High School:Kalvin Jordan. We're lucky to have a strong, and experienced team of Principals.

Our teaching staff consists of experienced and highly-qualified teachers from more than 20 different countries who bring international perspectives to our students, and after weeks of professional development and planning, they are prepared to deliver the teaching and learning needed to meet the demands of a rapidly changing and morally complex world.

Finally, I wish to express our community’s gratitude to KBS School Founder Saleh Al Melhlef, with whose continuing support we’ll be able to help our Children of Today, become Leaders of Tomorrow.
